Vanessa and Keith married at Highgate House in May 2014. It was a beautiful sunny day to compliment their vintage pink theme, and they even managed to incorporate the colours of their local football club.

We met on the internet! He proposed on one knee wearing his DJ with a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses on the table and 2 dozen red roses in his hand. He said ‘would you do me the honour of becoming my wife? There are 24 red roses here, if we are lucky we will have 24 wonderful years together' he had tears in his eyes, how could I refuse?
What made you choose us as your wedding venue?
I have been to Highgate for dinner with my daughters on several occasions. I knew the food was amazing and when we came to the very next wedding fair, I fell in love with the Drawing Room and the whole house, especially the bridal suite. The staff are so friendly (not just because my daughter works there) and you get the feeling they're all part of a big family. We received very good service from our wedding planner which made the whole thing really easy and they accommodated all of our requests.
On the day, what were the best bits & what made the day memorable?
The weather! We were so lucky to have a sunny day. It was lovely to be with all my family and friends all at the same time. The services of Chris, the Food and Beverage manager, were excellent, he kept in touch with me at all times and nothing was too much trouble. The wedding breakfast was amazing and the Drawing Room looked lovely freshly decorated. Everything went to plan - even the bride turned up!
What was your vision/theme and how did you make it happen?
We wanted a vintage theme, so we had lots of old fashioned roses in shades of pink, lots of rose petals, vintage tea pots, milk jugs, sugar basins for flower displays, vintage cutwork invitations and a vintage bride and groom. We wanted to tie in the colour maroon, with the pinks, to show support for the Cobblers!
How was the food on the day?
The food is what really makes Highgate House special. Lee and his team produced superb canapés and a scrumptious wedding breakfast. There were a few vegetarians and non meat eaters and all were accommodated without fuss.
What/who helped during the planning process?
All my daughters helped me plan the day, Natalie was especially helpful and of course Jo our wedding planner. The whole process was really enjoyable.
What's the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?
Have a good idea of what you want and how much you want to spend and then place yourselves in the hands of a good wedding planner to bring it all together.
What comments would you like to add about us and the staff involved in your big day?
As previously, all the staff are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They all worked together as a team and this was visible to us the customer. I would highly recommend Highgate House for weddings and all events/celebrations.
"We had a wonderful wedding day surrounded by family and friends, supported by all the staff at Highgate. They were on hand from early morning until last thing at night to ensure that all our plans were carried out, and still had smiles on their faces."
