Gillian and Carl married at Highgate House in September 2013. The couple had a fantastic day and chose to theme their wedding around their love of ducks and Thomas the Tank Engine.
Tell us your story
We first met through friends on a blind date. Carl proposed to me when we were on holiday in Scarborough in 2012. He turned towards me and opened the engagement ring box up whilst we were sitting on the bench looking over the harbour and asked me the question. The answer was a definite yes!
What made you choose us as your wedding venue?
The surroundings and happy staff made us feel very welcome and our wedding planner, Jo Kelly, was brilliant. She listened and offered us an amazing wedding day.
On the day, what were the best bits and what made the day memorable?
The day was perfect and the weather was great. The staff were fantastic and Chris Porter was fabulous at making sure the day ran smoothly. All our dreams came true, Highgate House is amazing.
What was your vision/theme and how did you make it happen?
The theme was ducks and Thomas the Tank Engine. We incorporated this into our favours, invitations and wedding cake.
How was the food on the day?
The chef at Highgate is the best. We couldn't fault the food in any way, it was sensational.
What/who helped during the planning process?
Jo Kelly helped us throughout the planning, offering her advice and help.
What's the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?
Listen to each other, don't panic and relax, the day will be great!
