Now more than ever, couples are looking for ways to personalise their wedding day. We spoke to wedding planners at each of our three Sundial venues to find out about the latest trends gracing the wedding scene:
Couples are now looking for alternatives to the traditional three-course sit down dinner. "We’ve seen a demand for more barbecues, hog roasts and afternoon tea parties" says the Wedding Planner at Highgate House. "We're also seeing a twist on the traditional sweetie buffet with biscuit bars, dessert stations, ice cream carts and popcorn machines."
We've noticed an increase in enquiries for weddings taking place between September and December. Beautiful autumn colours make a great backdrop for wedding photography and there's something quite magical about holding a cosy winter wedding with roaring fires.
If you're undecided on having a wedding video, Marryoke is a fantastic way to capture all your guests on film in a fun and unique way. The bride and groom pick a song and their guests mime along to it on the day. When the whole thing is edited together it makes for a fantastic keepsake! "We had some couples this summer who did this and it was a massive hit," says the Wedding Planner at Woodside. "I think it will continue to be popular in years to come!"
Adding homemade touches continues to be at the top of our bride's minds. From making invitations and favours to decorations and centrepieces, doing it yourself can save you money whilst adding that unique touch to your special day. Brides have somehow found the time to create their own flower arrangements and bake their own wedding cakes!
The photo booth still remains a favourite, however many couples are now choosing to organise photo booth arrangements using their own props. "Couples are looking to add more entertainment to keep guests busy between the wedding breakfast and evening reception," says our Wedding Planner at Woodside. "We had a bride and groom recently who had different board games on each table including Scrabble, Connect 4 and Hungry Hippos!"
