Things to do in Northamptonshire this Winter

As the weather gets colder and the nights get darker it becomes harder to think of things to do. If you look hard enough there are still lots of exciting activities to do in Northamptonshire this winter.

Winterland Towcester 

Get into the festive spirit this winter in Northamptonshire. At Towcester Racecourse, they are hosting ‘Winterland’ which will include a Santa’s Grotto, Ice rink, Christmas Market and lots more!

They have several sackfuls of the very best festive fun, food and family entertainment. There is something for everyone. Apart from the opening night, Winterland is FREE to attend.

They are until the 5th January 2020.

Christmas markets 

Still looking for the perfect gifts for your friends and family. What better shopping experience than Christmas Markets?

 Expect foodie treats, handmade gifts and beautifully crafted Christmas decorations.

Christmas Llama trekking 

Fancy something a little different to do this Winter? Are you animal obsessed? This is the perfect day out for you…Catanger Llamas is in the heart of Northamptonshire, they are a llama breeding farm with a trekking centre. They offer Christmas themed treks that include mulled wine and mince pies.

Llamas are gentle, inquisitive animals that will make a walk in the countryside into something wonderful and unforgettable.

Christmas Afternoon Tea  

If you would rather hide away from the cold and stay indoors treat yourself to an afternoon tea with a Christmas twist and a glass of fizz. We proudly serve Christmas Afternoon tea at Highgate House and Woodside Hotel until the 23rd December.

Wickstead Park

There are so many rides and attractions to see and do in Wickstead park it’s hard to keep up. Take a magical train ride to meet Mr and Mrs Claus and their reindeer.

Show at Theatre

In Northampton, we have a lovely Theatre called the Royal and Derngate. Last year alone is welcomed more than 378,000 visitors and has won many prestigious awards. From comedians to Christmas Pantomimes they have something to suit everyone. This year’s Christmas pantomime is Cinderella and they offer tickets from as little as £20.

If the theatre isn’t your thing we also have Northampton Film house. They show a wide variety of films including a screening of Elf on the 8th December.
