8 Ways to Make your Wedding Reception More Fun

Make your wedding reception one to remember with these fabulous ideas from our wedding planners:

Jazz up your first dance

Make your first dance as husband and wife something to remember by taking some dance lessons together and surprising your guests with a show stopping routine! Alternatively, why not project a large slideshow during your slow dance to take the pressure off a little?

Hire a photo booth

A photo booth with props is a great way of capturing fun and relaxed photos of your guests during the reception. Many packages also come with a guest book where everyone can stick their photos and write a special message for you to take home!

Bring in a casino

Treat your guests to a little flutter and hire a casino. Casino ‘money' can make a great favour idea for your guests, and games such as roulette, blackjack and poker can provide the perfect opportunity for everyone to mix seamlessly from day into the night.

Provide a sweetie buffet

Set up a sweetie bar with pick and mix bags, retro sweets and popcorn for your guests to enjoy throughout the evening. This proves to be a big hit with children and adults alike, and you can also personalise the sweet bags for everyone to take home - if they last that long!

Hire a caricaturist

A caricaturist is a great ice-breaker for guests, and will entertain everyone. It also means your guests leave with a cherished memento of your special day.

Choose live music

Guests always love the energy of a live band and they're always great for adding that extra excitement factor and getting everyone on the dance floor. You can also arrange to have a DJ afterwards for when the party really gets going!

Don't forget the kids

Children get bored easily at weddings so be sure to provide them with their own form of entertainment. Make them feel special by creating a table just for the kids and decorate it in the same way as the rest adding child-friendly favours such as toys, sweets and activity packs with crayons.

Add in board games

If you're getting married in the spring or summer when the weather is warm, outdoor games such as Giant Jenga and Chess are a great way to keep guests entertained and they make for amusing photographs! Alternatively, why not add some of the classic 'old school' board games to your tables, they're guaranteed to keep both adults and children entertained!
