Real Wedding: Sharron and Geoff's Story

Written by Kelly Noble | 17-Aug-2018 14:31:16

Sharron and Geoff had exclusive use of Woodside for their wedding in June 2018. Read all about their special day here...

Tell us your story (how did you meet, how did he/she propose?)

We met via an online dating site and even when Sharron tried to delete my emails requesting to meet I persevered, and when we did meet we hit it off straight away.

I proposed on a cruise whilst sailing out of Venice. Everyone else with us knew except for Sharron, so trying to keep it a secret from her took some doing!

What made you choose us as your wedding venue?

We were looking for a venue that made us feel special, and from our first visit that's what we felt. We also loved the privacy, being surrounded by it's own grounds it is a beautiful wedding setting. We also loved the fact we could book the hotel exclusively and have all of our guests staying at the hotel without having to worry about transport or booking rooms.

On the day, what were the best bits & what made the day memorable?

The guests reaction on seeing our wedding cake. The whole of the hotel staff were fantastic from early in the morning until the last guest retired. The whole day ran so smoothly and that is down to the details and work the staff put into ensuring the day goes without a hitch.

What was your vision/theme and how did you make it happen?

We wanted to reflect our personalities so used the theme of Love, Laughter and Happiness. We used this throughout all the little extras from our candy table to the signs and favours. We had a wedding cake to reflect our sense of humour and light heartedness.

How was the food on the day?

The food on the day was exquisite, from the canapes through to the wedding breakfast and then the evening hot buffet. Our guests commented on how incredible the food was throughout the whole day. It showed this when there was absolutely nothing left in the evening, with people going up two or even three times. The service was outstanding by the waiting staff and we never felt rushed.

What/who helped during the planning process?

We had massive help from Sarah the wedding planner at the time and always overseeing the whole day, Vickie, who stepped in and reassured us when Sarah left with only a couple of weeks before the big day. Food and drink wise, Mark was brilliant with his suggestions for wine etc.

What's the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?

Start planning early, time flies and you never seem to have enough of it, also don't be afraid to ask the staff for help.

What (if any) comments would you like to add about us and the staff involved in your big day?

We cannot thank the staff enough, this day was special for us but the staff made it even more so, we were treated like VIP's and so were our guests. We especially would like to thank Vickie, Martin, Mark and Sarah who were there for us on numerous occasions before the big day and helped us plan and achieve the wedding of our dreams.

"Woodside made our theme of Love, Laughter and Happily ever after a reality."
