Real Wedding: Leanne and Kyle's Story

Written by Kelly Noble | 26-May-2016 14:00:00

Leanne and Kyle celebrated their special day at Highgate House in April 2016. Read about their wedding below:

Tell us your story (how did you meet, how did he/she propose?)

We met on a dating website in November 2011 and finally plucked up the courage to meet in March 2012. We met half way between Northampton and Nottingham and talked for 6 hours straight, meanwhile we each received a £70 parking fine - completely worth it though! That coming weekend, Kyle whisked me away to Leeds and we never spent a weekend apart after that. On 9th December 2012 Kyle proposed. We hadn't seen each other that weekend as I had my works Christmas do on the Saturday night, and agreed we would leave seeing each other until the following weekend. That was until there was a knock at the door of my parents’ house, and my parents were adamant I needed to open the door. I answered the door and down one knee with a sparkly ring in his hand was Kyle, asking me to marry him. After about a minute of being in complete shock, I said yes! I knew from the first time we met he was one day going to be my husband.

What made you choose us as your wedding venue?

We had been to a few venues to look around and also visited a few wedding fairs, but when we visited Highgate House we just knew it was the one; we just had to have our reception at this beautiful house. Nothing compared to the beautiful grounds that Highgate offered, along with their friendly and helpful staff.

On the day, what were the best bits & what made the day memorable?

The best bits were obviously marrying my best friend, but also getting to share it with all our loved ones and seeing them enjoying themselves. Having both our boys with us on our big day made it memorable; seeing our eldest running around Highgate’s grounds, playing connect 4 and crochet was lovely.

What was your vision/theme and how did you make it happen?

We didn't have a theme as such or a vision. We just went with what we liked. We chose Teal as our colour scheme eventually after changing it several times. We wanted things to feel romantic and just classic. We love roses and lilies so we had those in our bouquets and centre pieces - they are just timeless. We also didn't want the teal to be to over powering so we had silver chairs with teal sashes with flowers on them.

How was the food on the day?

The food was out of this world - all our guests commented on how amazing the food was. We had the goat’s cheese for starter, lamb with a red wine sauce for main and chocolate brownie for dessert, and there wasn't a plate in the room with food left on it. Everything was perfect even down to the presentation of the food, compliments to the chef he did a fine job!

What/who helped during the planning process?

Our parents were a massive help during the planning process along with friends and bridesmaids.

What's the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?

Enjoy it because it goes so quickly and before you know it, it’s over. We were also in two minds on whether or not to have it all recorded but we are so glad we did as we now have a film of our big day now to look back on whenever we want.

What (if any) comments would you like to add about us and the staff involved in your big day?

The staff on the day and the run up to the big day were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us and were really polite and professional.

“We could not have asked for a more perfect day.”
