After a romantic Indian Ocean proposal, Kellie and Jonathan celebrated their wedding at Highgate House on Valentine’s Day 2016. They planned their special day in just 3 months!
We met at a party... our eyes met across a crowded room! Jonathan proposed in Mauritius while we were having lunch overlooking the Indian Ocean. It was a total surprise. Home from our holiday we decided it would be nice to have a short engagement and chose Valentine's Day to be our special day.
With only three months from the date we got engaged to the date we wanted to get married we didn't have much time to get planning! We enquired with a couple of venues and found Highgate House to be very helpful. We were delighted that the venue was available on Valentine's Day and with such a good package on offer. When we visited Highgate House we fell in love with the Baronial Hall and knew we had to have our wedding reception there.
Photographer was James Corbett. Searching the internet for Northamptonshire photographers we came across James' website and loved his photographs - we were so excited when we found out that not only does James live very near Highgate House but that he was available on our big day. We could not have been happier with our beautiful wedding photographs - they captured the whole day wonderfully. Our DJ was Vintage Music. We were extremely impressed with Vintage Music (DJ's Bob and Barry). Barry took the time to come and meet with us prior to the big day and talked us through all the details, reassuring us that everything would go smoothly. We knew we were in good hands. Our florist was Sandra Naylor and my Bridal Gown was from Brides of Wellingborough.
Our wedding day was perfect, we loved every minute of it.
We didn't really have a ‘theme’ as such - we chose purples and dusky pinks as the main colours for the bridesmaids and flowers. We also had family from Ireland join us on our special day therefore a lot of the music we chose had an Irish connection.
We really enjoyed coming along for our taster meal in the run up to the big day - with lots of lovely food to choose from it was difficult to decide! We went for the seasonal soup to start, breast of chicken, followed by strawberry and vanilla meringue roulade all of which were absolutely delicious. We had so many compliments from our day guests who were very impressed by both the portion size and how tasty the food was. Amazing roast potatoes! Also the bacon rolls and chunky chips in the evening went down very well with all of our guests.
Lauren at Highgate House was fantastic - she was very friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions, making the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. Having only a short period of time to organise everything wasn't a problem and Lauren made sure all the preparations ran smoothly.
Just enjoy it. Don't stress about all the little things.
Thank you to all staff at Highgate House who made our day so special. A particular thank you to Sara, our toastmaster on the day who looked after us and ensured it all ran smoothly.
“Our winter wedding at Highgate House was perfect; roaring fires in the beautiful Baronial Hall, delicious food, candlelight, friendly staff, great accommodation (including an amazing bridal suite) - it all made for a wonderful day. We would highly recommend choosing Highgate House for your wedding day.”
