Real Wedding: Donna and Andy's Story

Written by Kelly Noble | 08-Aug-2014 10:20:00

Donna and Andy married at Woodside in October 2014. The couple chose a classic timeless black and white theme for their intimate wedding, with black and white photos to match.

Tell us your story (how did you meet, how did he/she propose?)

We met through work and were friends long before anything romantic. We got on so well and it was just a natural progression from friendship to something more. After being together, living together and having a baby together, one day he simply said "will you do me the honour of being my wife?” We agreed to marry a year from the date of the proposal.

What made you choose us as your wedding venue?

We chose Woodside as we wanted a small and intimate wedding. We didn't want a huge venue and loved the setting. We had also heard excellent things about the food!

Please tell us the suppliers you used?

Fiona at Inspired Elegance for flowers, Truly Scrumptious for decorations, White Lace for the bridal party, Slaters Menswear for the groomsmen, So Betty for the stationary and Adrian Brown for photography.

On the day, what were the best bits & what made the day memorable?

The best parts of the day have to be the ceremony and then the late night partying. Our wedding party didn't want to go to bed as we were having such a great evening.

What was your vision/theme and how did you make it happen?

We wanted a classic black and white theme; the men in black and the women with a classic look. We didn't want a ‘commercial’ theme, but something timeless and chose to have all our pictures in black and white to emphasise this.

How was the food on the day?

Excellent. There is nothing more to say (aside from my eldest daughter being grumpy because she missed out on fish and chips!)

What/who helped during the planning process?

Andra Dinca! She was great. I was a little worried when our wedding co-ordinator changed just after our booking, but Andra was never too busy to help with my endless questions and emails. In fact, on the day she was exceptional in resolving my concerns over the ceiling drapes.

What's the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?

Make a budget and then realise you are probably going to go over it! Keep a check on your costs and plan everything so that you can relax on the day. If there is someone else that can do something for you, let them - you don't have to do everything yourself.

What (if any) comments would you like to add about us and the staff involved in your big day?

The staff were always attentive but never intrusive.

“Our wedding invites said ‘Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale’. Woodside helped to complete our fairytale ending.”
