Meet our Wedding Planner at Woodside, Sarah Horne.
Tell us a bit about yourself...
I have a passion for dance and the performing arts. I also love to cook and experiment with new ideas in the kitchen. My favourite way to spend an evening is cooking at home with my husband or going out for a lovely fancy meal somewhere new.
How did you get into Wedding planning? Have you always worked in the industry?
I actually come from a performance background, working for big companies in the holiday including Princess Cruises, Parkdean Resorts & Pontins. More recently I have worked in the hotel & restaurant industry which combines my customer service background with event management.
What’s your favourite thing about weddings at Woodside?
I love the family feel at Woodside – the team here are so personable and pride themselves on making guests feel relaxed and comfortable, as though entertaining guests in their own home. Woodside weddings are great because we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ so we offer a simple canvas and help you paint it!
When couples choose to get married here, what can you help them with?
I love hearing about how couples envisage their day and help to bring this to life in every detail. I also assist with offering new ideas they may not have considered and guide them through the whole planning process from the early stages right up until the big day itself.
What’s a typical day like for you?
I don’t really have a ‘typical’ day – and that’s what I love! Every wedding is so unique and I’m often meeting with couples to discuss their ideas and ensure we deliver them. I also spend a lot of time helping couples with the finer details, giving my recommendations on all aspects of planning.
What do you love most about your job?
The best part of my job is the people – I’ve always loved customer interaction and have always been a sociable person. I love getting to know each couple personally and understand what’s important to them.
What is the best advice/tips you can give to a bride and groom currently in the midst of planning their special day?
Any bride and groom should remember that you can’t keep everyone happy all of the time. The most important thing about your day is that you are both happy. Another top tip would be to get yourself on Pinterest and join a few wedding related boards as these can give you so many great ideas to add to your day at low cost.
What’s your current favourite trend/colour/theme?
My favourite theme at the moment is vintage - lace, pearls and pastel colours. Adding a ‘Royal’ twist to the day with the current trends of the upcoming royal wedding can also add an element of sophistication to the day.
