Meet our Wedding Planner - Highgate House

Weddings, Wedding Planning

Meet our wedding planner at Highgate House, Siobhan Shand-Liddle.

Tell us a bit about yourself...

I am a very driven and hardworking lady that loves to enjoy the finer things in life. I have two beautiful puppies Shadow and Milo that keep me active and on my toes. My weekends are filled with socialising and seeing my friends as much as possible and if we get the chance I will try and get us all away for the weekend together. I love to go on holiday as I really like to experience different cultures and foods.

How did you get into wedding planning?  Have you always worked in the industry?

I have completed my degree in Events Management at The University of Northampton which incorporated all elements of event planning from the initial stages of designing and planning to the creation and fulfilment of the event. I chose to take a placement year at a venue in Northampton where I learnt about the orchestration of events and how to put it into practice within a live environment. I have worked in the wedding industry for two and a half years now and I still love getting to know every couple. I have always enjoyed the interaction with the customer and being able to understand their vision. Helping to create their special day is something I shall treasure forever.

What’s your favourite thing about weddings at Highgate House?

Highgate House has such an incredible venue with wonderful friendly staff throughout. It is so difficult to pinpoint a favourite thing about this venue. However, I would have to say that the way that all members of staff work together to deliver professional and immaculate service to all its customers makes every couple’s wedding day spectacular.

When couples choose to get married here, what can you help them with?

A bit of advice I always give to couples is that I am here to help them through their journey towards married life. I cannot express how much it means to me that each couple has the day that they envisage. I am always on hand to help, whether you want to talk about table plans, decorations or you want to discuss this seasons trends, I am more than happy to talk this through with you to ensure your day is truly special. Each couple is individual to me and you will always be treated as such. Additionally, I can help to guide you through your wedding planning process and provide you with a detailed list of our recommended suppliers so you know you will always be in safe hands.

What’s a typical day like for you?

A lot of time is spent speaking to my couples to ensure all the details for their upcoming weddings are correct and in place. I like to ensure each couple is prepared for their big day and go through exactly what will happen to ensure they are fully aware of every aspect of the days running order. Additionally, I also like to interact with new brides and grooms to be. I am always available via telephone or email to answer any queries.

What do you love most about your job?

My favourite part of the job is being able to see the culmination of the hard work and how happy every couple are on their big day. It makes me so proud to see each couple together on their wedding day and being a part of that is something you really can’t put into words.

What’s the best advice/tips you can give to a bride and groom currently in the midst of planning their special day?

The best advice I can give to each of my couples is to relax and enjoy the planning process. If you stress then it won’t be as enjoyable for you. When you start your planning process I advise you to have a month by month checklist and tick each thing off as you go.  It is one of the biggest days of your life, you need to relish it. I am here to help you every step of the way with a head full of knowledge from this industry. I like to provide a stress free experience that allows you to revel in the excitement!

What’s your current favourite trend/colour/theme?

My favourite trend at the moment is the black and champagne colour scheme almost hinting at the 1920’s theme. I think good floristry is a must with large bouquets containing Hydrangeas, Peonies, Gypsophila and Lily of the Valley with plenty of greenery within the venue. I have a feeling a trend that will catch on more and more will be the image mapping of venues so couples can transform their venue into whatever they want.
